Iran Slowing Down on the Whole Nuclear Enrichment Thingy

I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that the United Nations and many other countries would rather see Iran obtain nukes than America launch a new war to prevent said nukes from becoming a reality.

AFP reports:

Iran has slowed down the expansion of its nuclear enrichment capabilities at its strategic plant in Natanz, UN nuclear chief Mohamed ElBaradei said Monday.

“We have seen a fairly slow development in commissioning new cascades,” ElBaradei told reporters, referring to the installation of centrifuges which enrich uranium into fuel for civilian reactors or, in its highly refined state, atom bomb material.

Hmm. I guess slowing down is better than speeding up, but perhaps we’ve got news of a “slow down” because Iran has been so effective in stringing the whole goddamn world along that it doesn’t need to be building as many cascades as before. They probably already have what they need. For Iran, they’re probably just shifting their priority to acquiring a delivery system so they can wipe Israel off the face of the earth like they’ve always wanted.

UPDATE: Oh, this might be of some importance too: LGF points out that on the same day the toothless IAEA nuclear watchdog Mohamed ElBaradei announces Iran is slowing down, we have a news story about satellite photos showing Iran is tunneling into a mountain near the Natanz uranium enrichment facility.  It doesn’t get any better than this.
