WaPo Iraq Reporting Conflicts With Reality

This is not the first time a liberal newspaper has misportrayed what is actually going on in Iraq, nor will this be the last.  Those against the presence of our soldiers in the Middle East will continue to do or say what they think will continue to sway public opinion even more against the war on terror taking place.

Blackfive contrasts what Kiki Munshi has to say about Baqubah with what Michael Yon has to say.  Yon is a war correspondent actually there, while Munshi is the writer for the WaPo that was apparently describing recent events in Baqubah all the way from California.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can ignore what seems to be so plain for everyone to see, how people sometimes act like they know everything or how people can sometimes play dumb because they don’t want to deal with what’s actually happening.  Of course, this would describe most of people in the Senate as well as some people in the executive branch, but I think this aptly describes most of the mainstream media.  It just seems to me like the people who run the newsrooms sit down to decide that they won’t run any positive stories about our efforts in Iraq because that would mean the surge is working and would give some credibility to the president, and they can’t have that at all.

  • Hey. I’ll just paste what I received from my friend (A Captain USAF) the other day for an additional insight:

“Hey! It’s been a couple days. Thanks for the encouraging words. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about the grunts on the ground who lose their lives on a daily basis and it still only makes third page news. This war is one that will affect a generation. If not for the loss of life than for the inconsistencies and parallels with previous unpopular wars. Our leadership screws it up with lies and bad information and boys and girls half our age are still going to be dying because of a roadside bomb in some stupid no-name corner of the desert no more distinct than the next save for the blood shed and tears that have fallen. The ONLY reason I feel good about being over here is that I can help the effort to provide a better security blanket over head for the ground pounders below.”

(the balance of the email was unrelated to war, so I’ll just scrap it)
