This past weekend in Elberton, five members of the Security Bank Cycling Team competed in the Georgia State Team Time Trial Championships. Working together, Chad Davies, Ron Hill, Bill Causey, Robert Jordan, and Todd Wilson took first in the state of Georgia in their division of the Team Time Trial.
The team took first by a wide margin of over 2 minutes. Congratulations to our Team Time Trial State Champions!
The Security Bank Cycling Team’s lone mountain biker Jeff Clayton turned in another excellent performance at the Off Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell (ORAMM) Sunday, July 27.
The participants had to race 63 miles with over 11K of climbing in 90 plus degrees temperature. Clayton finished the race in 6 hours and 20 minutes, 33rd overall (400+ riders), and 2nd in the 40+ Masters category.
Security Bank cyclist Douglas Ott took first in the Gwinnett Bike Fest road race on Saturday, July 26. The course consisted of 6 laps around an approximately 6.2 mile circuit with several large hills.

This past weekend, Security Bank Cycling Team member Douglas Ott raced in the Pro/1/2/3 road race in South Fulton County as part of the Georgia State Games. Doug took 1st among the Category 3 cyclists and 4th overall.
The cyclists had to complete four laps around a sixteen-mile circuit for a total distance of 64 miles.
Teammate Jake Andrews also raced in the Pro/1/2/3 race, taking 20th. Teammates Robert Jordan and Eddie Hudspeth also competed in the races but both were unable to finish due to flat tires.
The Security Bank Cycling Team has completed another successful weekend of racing, this time in Rome, Georgia.
For the team time trial event, Robert Jordan, Chad Davies, Ron Hill, Todd Wilson, and Bill Causey put in a great effort for a first place win in the competitive division. For the Elite division, Jake Andrews and Jeff Clayton took on two additional riders from different teams and managed to pull off an outstanding 3rd place finish.
For the criterium, Todd Wilson and Bill Causey finished in the Top 15. Todd took 13th and Bill took 14th. In the Elite field, Jeff Clayton took 11th.
For the road race in the Competitive division, Bill Causey took 13th and Robert Jordan took 16th. For the Elite division, Doug Ott took 4th place, Jeff Clayton 34th, and Jake Andrews 38th.
On June 21st, members of the Security Bank Cycling Team traveled to LaGrange to compete in a weekend of cycling. As usual, the results were quite strong. In the road race on Sunday, Bill Causey was able to establish a breakaway that stuck and finished second.
In the time trial, Drew Slocum took second and Todd Wilson took fourth.
Also, Jake Andrews took 4th place overall in the Elite division.
Security Bank Cycling Team’s sole mountain biker Jeff Clayton took first place at the Rock Hawk race June 22nd and 3rd place in the Rock Hawk time trial the day before. Congratulations!


The Security Bank Cycling Team placed two riders on the podium for the Tour of Atlanta, the nation’s premier stage race. Robert Jordan and Chad Davies took first and second overall after a grueling five-day, 7-stage race this past Memorial Day weekend.
Robert and Chad used their time-trialing skills to take the initial lead, taking first and second in the prologue of the Tour. Then, in the team time trial event, teammates Bill Causey, Ron Hill, and Todd Wilson helped Robert and Chad extend their time gap even further by beating out all the other teams in the 4th stage.
In Stage 2 of the Tour, Todd demonstrated his sprinting skills as he finished 3rd. Todd finished 9th overall in the Tour, which means the Security Bank Cycling Team had three cyclists finishing in the Top 10.
Also, although Drew Slocum did not compete in the entire Tour, Drew dominated the road race of the competitive division, taking first place.
The team had two victories when Todd Wilson’s 5-year-old son Brent took first place in a children’s race on Stage 7 in Buford, Georgia and second place on Stage 6 in Gainesville, Georgia. Todd was also quoted in the local paper that day.

When the Security Bank Cycling Team learned that Christian Parrett, local cyclist and member of the U23 National Team, was going to have to pay for his own travel expenses to race in Europe this summer, we decided to raise some money and show our support. The team raised and presented $1,000 to Christian at his going away party at Macon, Georgia’s Shamrock bar and restaurant.

The Team wishes Christian the best of luck as he races in Europe and represents our country.

In a large field of racers, Robert Jordan and Bill Causey of the Security Bank Cycling Team took 1st and 2nd respectively in the Cumming, Georgia individual time trial. Robert finished with a time of 17:58 and Bill came in 23 seconds after with a time of 18:21.
Todd Wilson and Ron Hill also finished strong. Todd came in 6th with a time of 18:39 and Ron took 11th with a time of 19:06.
